Phantom Menace 3D

I know this isn't tech, but I just had to say something.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D grossed $1 billion world wide. It beat out The Dark Knight for the #10 spot for top grossing films of all time. Only 11 films have ever grossed $1 billion + world wide, and the Phantom Menace's re-release in 3D is one of them?

How does something like that happen?

3d is cool. I've toyed with starting to shoot photos in 3d, but nobody has monitors that can view them, yet. It's looking like 3d has staying power this time, though. Eye tracking is making it so you don't need glasses. I guess we'll see.
