The Encyclopaedia Britannica is now online only. We all knew this day would come. Still, it's a bit jarring now that it's here.

Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed Version
Won't this render the Encyclopaedia Britannica completely obsolete? You can find all that information via Google now anyway. At least with the hard copies you had something that looks good on a bookcase.
Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed VersionWow, that means the books may eventually become collector's items. Bookcases may even be obsolete in the future. I've recycled many books recently, mainly cookbooks since all of the recipes can be found online. One of my favorite recipe sites is http://www.allrecipes.com
Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed VersionI once owned several hundred books. After about 5 culls over two decades, that's down to about 4, most of which have sentimental value.

I actually go there more than anyone who doesn't cook should. Everytime I say to myself "Oh, if I make that, maybe I will start cooking". It never happens. I also had a collection of a couple hundred books (a lot of which were never read), but ended up giving most of them away. Now I have a nice collection of digital books for my Kindle. Again, most of which will never be read.

I've kept many books as well, mainly cookbooks, which have sentimental value. Even though I hardly read them, I just can't give them up
You should! They have everything from homemade bread to baklava. There are a variety of recipes from many different cultures along with videos and guides that are easy to follow for the beginner cook and the skilled chef. I love to cook and visit this site often.

True, but no paper got wasted and the whole thing never takes up more than a tiny amount of space. Reg Natarajan

Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed VersionThere is only one cookbook everyone should have. The Joy Of Cooking. The end.
Talk nerdy to me.
Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed VersionYou forgot the book compiled completely of menu's from restaurants that deliver.
The downside about such a book would be that it would get out-dated each month. Before you do something you can't undo, think of all the things you can't do once you've done it.
Re: Britannica Stops Publishing Printed Version
Oddly enough, I don't have that one but I do have quite a collection of Company's Coming!
